Cosmetic Facts

The CTFA of New Zealand recognises that the consumer has a right to understand the processes that industry and regulatory bodies go through to ensure the safety and efficacy of cosmetic and toiletry products. Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the focus on providing the public with direct access to the industry’s perspective and progress on safety, science and innovation.

The CTFA and member companies take their responsibility for the safety of cosmetics and toiletries very seriously.
Safety substantiation of ingredients, either by manufacturers of raw materials, or by companies marketing products containing them, is based on rigorous scientific safety processes.
Legislation requires any cosmetic product placed on the market to be safe under normal circumstances of use.
Our European counterpart, the CTPA, has done an excellent job of explaining the facts about cosmetics.
